The Grey Fox is a Canadian film released in 1982, directed by Philip Borsos. Based on the true story of Bill Miner, a skilled stagecoach robber, it explores his life after a lengthy incarceration and his attempts to adapt to a rapidly changing world.The film begins in 1901, after Miner (played by Richard Farnsworth) is released from prison after serving 33 years. He initially struggles to adjust to the modern world, which is vastly different from the Wild West he once knew. Determined to return to his old ways, he successfully executes a railway heist and goes on the run in British Columbia. During his flight, he develops a romantic relationship with Katherine Flynn (played by Jackie Burroughs), a progressive photographer.
