Stingray : The Reunion Party A video recording from the 1962 television series produced by Gerry Anderson. In theory, this British science fiction series ran for 3 seasons, each of 13 episodes, and therefore has a total of 39 episodes. However, a 40th episode was also made, and this is it. Although this is a 'flashback' episode, showing highlights from various of the 39 preceding episodes, it also contains original footage in the form of a 'framing' sequence, whereby Commander Shore presents film of the adventures of the Stingray crew to a visitor to the base. This episode was made as a device for publicising the series to overseas buyers, who could get a fair idea of the show by viewing just this single 25 minute segment, when considering whether to buy the show for their tv station. It seems the original idea for the episode arose when ATV's Lew Grade was seeking to market the episodes to a Japanese tv network. Since it was intended as an introduction to the show, it incorporates footage from the pilot episode as one of those featured, in which all of the main characters are introduced to the tv audience.
