Managing the Micro - Season 1 Episode 3 Video Size: 1024x576 Length: 24:35 This series aimed primarily at small businesses and further education colleges was fronted by the much respected Radio 4 'Today' presenter Brian Redhead. It showed examples of what can be done by looking at companies which had embraced the new technology in manufacturing or services. A typical example was the new use of bar codes in Tesco's supermarkets Filming the microchip manufacturing process gave authenticity to this title sequence for a series examining the effects of microtechnology on industry and commerce in Britain. Filming included the manufacturing of micro chips on the workshop floor and shots on a computer screen in the office environment, counterpointing the opportunities created by the technology. Travelling mattes were made from circuit board designs and used to create a juxtaposition of changing images. BRIAN REDHEAD examines some of the implications of the new technological revolution for people in industry today.3: Towards the Last Frontier: Britain's industrial survival may depend on the readiness of companies to adopt flexible, computer-based manfacturing methods. But flexibility is not just a matter of equipment. It's also a question of attitudes and the ability to come to terms with the human effects of change. -- https://clp.bbcrewind.co.uk/bfc582e8443bc8bceb2226765369ae2c https://www.ravensbourne.ac.uk/bbc-motion-graphics-archive/managing-micro-1981
