Frontiersman and fur trader "Hawkeye" Cutler (John Hart) fights to protect settlers during the French and Indian War from raids by the Huron Indians and from the schemes of greedy Europeans, assisted by his faithful companion Chingachgook (Lon Chaney Jr.), the last of the Mohican tribe. Based on the books by James Fenimore Cooper. Ethan Allen (George Barnes) and the Green Mountain Boys are at war with the ruthless tax collectors. Though a bunch of outlaws, they are more Robin Hood than the Dalton gang. But when the authorities start to put the blame on them for their own misdeeds, Hawkeye must sort it out.
