The film was directed by Mel Damski. It was broadcast on NBC on January 27, 1992. The plot involves the efforts of Mike Stone (newly promoted to Captain of Inspectors) to solve the murder of his old partner, Steve Keller. Since Keller is dead, the absence of the actor who played him in the series, Michael Douglas, who chose not to appear in the film, has a built-in explanation.
